Talib is one of the few people that saw the coming economic collapse and actually profited from it, from what I understand. I thought this would give some good insight into why he was able to see this coming and gain some wisdom from him. The book was good--mostly a trader's view on the randomness of the market and life in general. His thesis is essentially that human beings are not equipped to think rationally about the world and are wired to find patterns where there is only randomness. I appreciate his insights into explaining how much of what goes on around us is random, though we often attribute explanations to things wrongly. This is a good read and helps one become willingly to ascribe randomness to aspects of life that might be uncomfortable and uncertainty in appropriate situations. This is an interesting book since Talib comes off as an atheist, though I've read he's a practicing Christian (though not likely evangelical). A Christian should not see randomness everywhere, but providence. A Christian can learn much here though. Talib helps us see that we ought not be so certain about many things we are certain about. We don't know as much as we think we do. This is a helpful thing to be reminded of.
