Monfredo araştırmasını yaptı, bir savaşta yaşama travmasını ve korkusunu hissettiriyor. Çok iyi.
I turned each page of this novel with an increasing hope that something would happen. But it never did. Now of course if you find efforts to stimulate interest in cricket in New York, and the associated growing of the grass and rolling of the field brimming with tension, then this book is for you. Within the first few pages we find that the narrator's marriage is in difficulty and that the body of a man has been found in a New York canal. By the end of the book, although familiar with the dead man's activites (cricket-related and otherwise), we have no idea of the story of the murder, and we find that the narrator and his wide are reconcil...... oh, excuse me, I dozed off just writing about it. O'Neill's writing style is great, but I wish it had been applied to something more compelling. The blurb on the back states that he "writes a prose of Banvillean grace and beauty" - I am stirred not to attempt anything by John Banville.
