When this book got exciting, it stayed exciting until the end.
** spoiler alert ** I was pretty excited for this book: P&P plus zombies seemed like such a great idea. Unfortunately, the zany zombie fun ended rather quickly and the rest of the book had a lot of odd jokes about balls (made by Mr. Darcy), incongruous lines about the various characters eating hearts and drinking blood (not the zombies), and uncharacteristic rudeness. I got rather sick of Elizabeth's 'seven cuts' bit, too. And all that talk about the characters wanting to avenge their honour yet doing nothing about it felt like tired, boring filler. And the fates of some of the characters were just silly. I guess I was hoping that the text would remain intact with zombies added in for fun. Instead, this was more like a rewrite of P&P with some zombies thrown in. All in all, rather disappointing. Having said that, if someone does a clever rewrite for the screen, I'll probably go see it.
